摘要

Although previously being thought to be a rare condition, gastric carcinoids now constitute 10% to 30% of all carcinoid tumors. Patients with this entity may present with nonspecific complaints or symptoms similar to ulcers, polyps, or carcinoma. One patient in this hospital presented with tarry stool and gastric adenocarcinoma was the provisional diagnosis under gastroendoscopy examination. The initial histological examination of biopsy specimen was adenocarcinoma. Radical subtotal gastrectomy with lymph node dissection was performed and final pathological report turned out to be carcinoid tumor. Gastric carcinoids are not so rare as regarded before. They should always be included in the differential diagnoses of gastric lesions in order to achieve an early diagnosis and give the optimal therapy.
