Abstract

In patient of using the tracheostomy, the main objectives of patients of using tracheostomy tube is to maintain airway patency and establishment of appropriate ventilation and oxygenation. At the same time also the loss of vocal function and not through speech to communicate with the outside world and expression of individual will. That tracheostomy patient also will be the frustration about unable to attend of their health care by themselves. The speech device design is satisfied the demand of the tracheostomy patient cannot voice, and help tracheostomy patients speech, and thus promote expression by himself and communication, improve the ability of smell and swallow, help cough, reduce the number of suction and the infection rate, improve the quality of life, and help the growth of neonatal and pediatric development and social learning. The speech equipment for tracheostomy patients of clinical application and design idea is also different. The respiratory therapists must pay attention to the product indications and precautions in order to provide complete care. The review article shows an important of discussion with the theorem and clinical application of using speech device in mechanical ventilation and natural breathing tracheostomy patients, and to provide some information in clinical care of patients with tracheostomy.
