Micro-structure of light guide plate for micro injection molding

Abstract

This paper indicates the melt front delay of wedge-shaped light guide plate on micro injection molding and fabricates the patterns of mold inserted by wet etching process. The micro-feature of light guide plate is manufactured by micro injection molding. The single parameter method is used to discuss the flatness and replication properties for different processing parameters. The results show that the melt fronts delays due to the slow injection velocity, the low temperature induced by the little effect of shear heating, the high viscosity, the large flow resistance and the slow flow velocity. The mold temperature is the most important factor for the flatness and the replication of micro-feature of light guide plate. Lower mold temperature induces the better flatness properties.
