This project based on the theory of cognitive reserve and the Leisure Time Physical Activity (LTPA), a "Personalized Cognitive Training Machine / SODA Lohas Cognitive Training Machine’ including “Audio-Visual Interactive Input Interface Machine” and “Training Course Application (APP)”, which is a combination of key skills such as memory, responsiveness, attention, and coordination in cognitive function of the elderly with MCI will be used. The “Audio-Visual Interactive Input Interface Machine” includes pressure sensing, sound and light feedback applications. The pressure sensing uses a plurality of multi-operation compatible elastic pressure sensing spheres as user response input machines and also uses sound and light feedback operation to increase the multi-interaction of training. The Training Course Application (APP) is designed to develop a simple and easy-to-use interface for use in the cognitive function training mode for elderly with MCI, and with the feedback of training results, it can record and long-term tracking of training results. The objectives of this project include: (1) To develop the effectiveness optimization of the "Personalized Cognitive Training Machine / SODA Lohas Cognitive Training Machine and the technical enhancement of "Human Factors and Ergonomics" and "Human-Machine Interface" ; (2) Application and validation "Personalized Cognitive Training Machine / SODA Lohas Cognitive Training Machine" for the evaluation of memory, responsiveness, attention, and coordination for elderly with MCI ". This will be a double blind randomized controlled study with 2-armed, parallel group design. The subjects will be randomized into experimental group (Personalized Cognitive Training Machine / SODA Lohas Cognitive Training Machine), or active control group (Passive Information Activities, PIA). Personalized Cognitive Training Machine was composed of: (1) Memory, (2) Responsiveness, (3) Attention and (4) Coordination. Subjects in the PIA group will listen to audio books and read newspaper and the sessions of both groups will be administered in a 45min/session, 3 sessions/week, 8 weeks and a total of 24 sessions. The Personalized Cognitive Training Machine will be evaluated at baseline, immediate after intervention and 3 months follow-up. The primary outcome indicator of the training is general cognitive function assessed by the Mini-Mental Status Examination and the Taiwan version of Montreal Cognitive Assessment. The secondary outcome indicators will be: (1) Memory: Multifactorial Memory Questionnaire; (2) Responsiveness: Vienna Test System; (3) Attention: Comprehensive Non-verbal Attention Test Battery and (4) Coordination: The Berry-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration. Memory, responsiveness, attention and coordination will be evaluated using the Generalized Estimating Equation to examine the efficacy of Personalized Cognitive Training Machine. For treatment efficacy over time, two groups will be compared before the intervention and during a follow-up, at immediate and 3 months after the intervention. The results of the application of “Personalized Cognitive Training Machine/ SODA Lohas Cognitive Training Machine” including comprehensive functions such as training, recording and analysis will be produced to enhance the memory, responsiveness, attention and coordination function of the older adults with mild cognitive impairment. To expand the popularity of users and create additional value of this product.
