With the increasing requirement of orthopedic implant for bone disease or trauma, the orthopedic biomaterials become the focused items in biotechnology industry. Currently, autogenous bone graft is the most commonly used material for surgical operation. However, autogenous bone has un-predictable resorption and may result in donor site complications. In previous study, we focused on biocompatible osteoconductive scaffold mixed with platelet glue which perform good biocompatibility and small defect repair as a composite bone graft material made of PAA-NIPAAm and could be applied for bone re-construction. But the possibility for being a large bone defect filling material, the benefit and outcome of this nanocomposite is still unknown. Therefore, the aim of this project contents three tasks, first for establishment of medical composite bone graft with platelet glue in vivo degradation, second for cooperation with clinician in hospital to establishment large bone effect model for test this nanocompoasite as a bone filling materials. And the third one is using a imaging analyses such as computer tomography to identify bone repaired and also set up the histological examination for bone regeneration. Following the regulation of ISO10993-6 for implant examination, it is expected to develop an optimal testing procedure for new developed orthopedic biomaterials for large defect repair. With the increasing need of biomedical implants for orthopedic diseases, the orthopedic biomaterials with correct exanimation that fit with the medical regulation, then this test can be an report for making provement.
